The spring air may beckon you to go outside and frolic in the warm sunlight, but before you get out there you might be compelled to do a little spring cleaning in the house.  To make it a little easier on you, we have come up with some cleaning tips in the form of a Spring Cleaning Checklist.  Feel free to print it out and carry it with you to each room.

  • Kitchen
    • Clean oven, stovetop, microwave
    • Scrub vent screen above stove
    • Wipe down cabinet fronts, refrigerator, appliances
    • Mop floor
    • Clean out pantry and spice cabinet of expired items
    • Recycle unused kitchen items such as containers without matching lids or excessive water bottles.
    • Thoroughly clean kitchen sink and fixtures – resealing if necessary
  • Bathrooms
    • Clean bathtub basin, bathroom sinks, and shower floor and remove hard water stains from fixtures
    • Remove soap scum from glass and tiles
    • Clean mirrors
    • Properly expose of any expired medicines
    • Scrub grout and reseal any areas that need it around edges
    • Clean toilets and areas around toilets
    • Wash area rugs
    • Mop floor
  • Bedrooms
    • Dust all surfaces
    • Clean ceiling fans (if you have them)
    • Rearrange clothing so spring wear is more easily accessible
    • Vacuum or mop floors
    • Change bedding
    • Air out pillows by either hanging outside or placing in the dryer on a low setting
    • Clean blinds
  • General areas
    • Wash interior and exterior window surfaces
    • Clean marks on walls and moulding
    • Touch up any painted areas
    • Dust surfaces
    • Vacuum or mop floors
    • Change drapery or blinds to a more spring-like pattern/color

Now that the house is spotless, you can head outside to breathe in the spring air.
